ABOUT

MISSION AND HISTORY

Teens Without 2 is a registered 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization with the mission to empower teens raised in single parent homes by providing college scholarships. Our vision is that all students with the dream of attending college will have the opportunity to do so, without financial barriers hindering them.

Teens Without 2 was created June 25, 2013 by founder Katie Flores. Katie was raised in a single parent household and personally understands the financial struggle teens face in these difficult and disadvantaged circumstances. Katie  relied on the scholarship funds awarded to her to pay for her college education. Scholarships allowed her to graduate debt free from Virginia Commonwealth University with her Bachelors degree in Forensic Science. After graduation, Katie created Teens Without 2 to fulfill her desire to help others facing the same financial barrier she once faced.

The primary source of funds are from fundraising events and individual donations. As funds raised each year continue to increase, so does the number of scholarship recipients and the scholarship amount awarded each year. With the help of the Teens Without 2 Scholarship, our recipients have had the opportunity to attend Randolph Macon College, Virginia Tech, Virginia Union University, Radford University, James Madison University, and Virginia Commonwealth University.

Without scholarships, Katie would not have been able to pay for college, and knowing that others face the same situation, she wants to give back to others in the way she was helped by providing college scholarships.
